"The relationship between my life and my art is very intense. It is the experience of living, the importance of nature and the exploration of my ancestral African heritage through the process of creation, that moves me. I approach my paintings with the intention of having fun - splashing, scraping, pushing, pulling, dripping and wiping my way into a state of joyful animation. Intuition and my visual sensibilities click in and the dialogue with the canvas and the paint begins.
With my sculptures, the piece of wood or marble will tell me what to do - it has the answers even before I frame the question - and those answers reveal themselves under my hands."
