Antonius Roberts Hosts Schooner Bay Art Symposium

I know of no greater opportunity for artists to help shape and influence the landscape, philosophy and soul of a community than that provided by Schooner Bay!
Orjan Lindroth has selected me the Resident Artist at Schooner Bay and I feel it my duty to share this good fortune with artists globally. From July 21 through July 23rd 2010, six emerging artists from The College of The Bahamas and three resident artists from POPOP STUDIO will participate in the first annual Schooner Bay Art Symposium.
Participating artists under my leadership will engage in critical dialogue about the use of natural and reclaimed materials found in designated areas, with the view of expressing cultural and historical connections to places through sculpture.
The mission is to create markers/sculptures that help to clearly define and celebrate protected areas along the iron shore, dunes and coppice.
Schooner Bay is the ultimate artists’ studio – a studio without walls and we look forward to it being transformed into and celebrated as an organic garden where the line between nature and art is obliterated.
