Sacred Women at Pelican Bay at Lucaya
Leading Bahamian Artist and Sculptor, Antonius Roberts, Installs The Sacred Women at Pelican Bay
Grand Bahama Island - Leading Bahamian artist and sculptor Antonius Roberts is pictured as he recently installed The Sacred Women sculptures in the lobby of Pelican Bay at Lucaya. The sculptures will be housed at the resort until their permanent home at the Grand Bahama Heritage Museum, Garden of the Groves, is completed.
The sculptures, crafted from the remains of transplanted Casuarina trees, pay homage to the original inhabitants of Grand Bahama Island. Artists and historians will be brought together at the Heritage Museum to capture past moments in the lives of Bahamians through interactive programmes, such as Artists in residence, changing exhibits of local artifacts.

Roberts has an impeccable record of teaching, mentoring and supporting emerging young artists. His contributions to the Arts Community and The Bahamas in his personal and professional capacities are immense.
A frequent guest at Pelican Bay, Roberts is pictured with chairman of the Grand Bahama Heritage Museum project and Grand Bahama artist Mrs. Chantal Bethel, left, as he explains information on the Sacred Women to Miss Eleanor Bullard, front office associate. The sculptures join a display of art by other local artists in Pelican Bay's lobby. The lobby art display is collaborative effort between the artists and the resort, a major supporter of the arts.
