Centreville House - Nassau, Bahamas - Past, Present & Future
Artist's Statement As a sculptor, it is important that the ideals of conservation and preservation are reflected in my work. I do this by utilizing indigenous materials and locating the installations, where possible, in places of historical significance. Thus the past is recorded, re-created and remembered as a living historical record of our Bahamian heritage. Antonius Roberts Centreville House Progress Blog Mission & Objectives To design and create, within the environs of Centreville House, a park or open space reflective of the inherent elegance and history of the existing house, at the same time honouring the broader reference of the Lucayan Indian heritage in The Bahamas.
The grounds are to be transformed in such a way, utilising indigenous materials of stone and wood and bringing water features into a downtown location that, in a uniquely Bahamian way, it will emulate the informal ambience of some of the parks in Europe.
